The Marinette-Menominee Jail Outreach is an incorporated, non-denominational Christian outreach consisting of unpaid volunteers who attend local area churches, and come from diverse backgrounds. These members come from all walks of life: stay-at-home parents, factory workers, business owners, educators, medical professionals, executives and retirees to name a few. The Outreach serves all men and women in the local county jails and conducts about 1,000 meetings annually. We also assist released inmates with mentoring, job placement and tuition assistance.
The Problem
Nationally, approximately 67% of prisoners are again arrested within 3 years of their release. The US Department of Justice recently reported 7 million people, or 1 out of 32 American adults were behind bars, on probation, or on parole. In the state of Michigan, the recidivism rate is reported as approximately 48%. Without intervention, 70% of children who have an incarcerated parent will eventually themselves be incarcerated. In other words, there is a mission field in our own back yard at the Marinette and Menominee County Jails. The Solution Jesus changes hearts, redeems souls, and transforms lives. When we submit to Him and allow Him to work in and through us, He changes us and we can see the lives and hearts of others changed, too. |
Your Involvement
Pray...Prayer is by far the most significant need we have. Only by the power of the Holy Spirit can hearts and lives be changed. Prayer warriors are always needed. Let us know that you are praying for us! Please pray for this outreach. Pray for our members and for the inmates and their families that are affected by their incarceration. Pray that the Holy Spirit will open their hearts to the message of Jesus Christ. Volunteer Volunteers, Biblically sound men and women who adhere to our statement of faith are needed. On an average Monday, we will see between 25 to 30+ inmates individually, each for approximately 20-30 minutes. The harvest is ripe, but the workers are few. Support Financial donations are always appreciated. Tax-exempt donations go directly to the resources needed by the Outreach. |
